Pilates is a form of exercise devised by Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1880-1967), where the body strengthens and stretches simultaneously. He called his method of body conditioning "Contrology" or "The Art of Control". Pilates is an appropriate exercise method for individuals of all ages and physical fitness levels. The Pilates method tones the entire body, concentrating on the abdominal muscles. It improves strength, flexibility, posture and endurance.
