The Pilates Stance Studio is owned by Certified Authentic Pilates^TM Instructor Maria Balboni, who opened the studio in May 2007. A New Jersey native, Maria received her Masters Degree in Dance and Dance Education from New York University in 1996. She then attended a rigorous program to become a Certified Authentic Pilates^TM Body Conditioning Instructor under the tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska, a renowned protege´ of Joseph Pilates, and her daughter Sari Mejia Santos. Maria trained for 600 hours - gaining mastery of Pilates apparatus including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Electric Chair, Barrels, Pedipull and mat, all of which she has in her studio. Maria maintains her Authentic Pilates^TM Instructor certification with yearly continuing education seminars at Romana`s Pilates in New York.

Ms. Balboni taught Pilates in Vienna, Austria from 2001 till 2006. She then returned to the United States where she was a freelance Pilates instructor at various health and fitness facilities in New Jersey until she opened The Pilates Stance Studio in Emerson, New Jersey. Her studio focuses exclusively on Pilates and is equipped with the full range of Pilates apparatus.

"The Pilates Stance" is the name of the basic position from which individuals begin their Pilates Method exercise regimen. "Pilates is my stance in life" is the slogan Ms. Balboni employs to communicate the life-enhancing changes that can be realized from Pilates.
