I cannot say enough about my experience as a pilates student and with the instructors and principals of the Pilates Stance™. Pilates has been a constant for me during major life changes - divorce, remarriage, pregnancy and first-time motherhood. Training keeps both my mind and body in balance. Within a short time, I saw definition in my mid-section and began to get that "in tune" feeling with my body. Along the way, the instructors carefully took into account my particular body limitations and any injuries to maximize my workout experience. - Valerie SiskoI started taking mat Pilates because I was curious to see what all the excitement was about. Although I had been taking aerobic and toning classes since my early 40s I always liked trying something new. Exercise is something I do because it makes me feel better, not because I love to exercise.
When I began Pilates, about 10 years ago, I was in my mid 60s. Starting to get all the iconic problems so many seniors develop, poor posture, flabby abs, thighs, upper arms, neck and around my eyes. I had never been overweight but I was looking dumpier all the time. I also had knock knees, something that happened as I aged because of weak ankles and very high arches which caused me to walk with my feet turned in.
At about this time, Maria came into my life. I started taking her mat class and one day while taking a private lesson, she asked if I wanted to try some foot/leg work on the reformer. I did and was surprised that by the next morning I could feel a difference in my legs. So I started taking private lessons on the equipment along with the group mat classes.
The results have been amazing. My posture is MUCH better, my entire body is firmer, stronger, more toned. My knees are straightening out. And the best part, not only have I lost the flabby areas, BUT the biggest bonus is, the skin on my neck and face, including around my eyes, is tighter.
Overall, I not only think I look better, I know I feel better, healthier, then when I started. And the skin on my neck and face, including around the eyes, has lost the flab, it is firmer, like having plastic surgery, just cheaper.
